DALLAS (July 1, 2014) – Today, MV Transportation, Inc., announced it has been selected to continue operation of the City of Fairfield, California’s Fairfield and Suisun Transit Service (FAST) for a new contract term. FAST provides fixed route, commuter, and paratransit services throughout Solano County. MV has operated the service since 1998.
Awarded by the Fairfield City Council, the new contract begins July 1, 2014, and will extend three base years with three (1) one-year renewal options. Under the terms of the contract, MV will continue to manage and oversee FAST operations. The transit services will be provided using the city-owned fleet of 55 vehicles and 80 professional operators and staff.
“Retaining the FAST contract and remaining in Fairfield and Solano County – our company headquarters for many years – is of tremendous importance to MV,” said Kevin Klika, President and Chief Operating Officer for MV Transportation. “This contract is particularly special as it represents MV’s very first fixed route contract and is less than an hour away from San Francisco where the company was founded. As we enter a new contract term, we remain committed to delivering an excellent and safe transit service to the many passengers we have come to personally know over the last 15 years, and intend to continue our involvement in the community where many of our current staff still reside.”
MV Transportation also operates a regional support office in Solano County and is an active community partner as a member of the local chambers of commerce and supporter of local charitable organizations such as Mission Solano, Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity and many others.
Founded in northern California in 1975, MV Transportation operates more than 100 contracts throughout the state.
