Vacaville, Calif. (January 16, 2013) – MV Transportation, the contracted operator of local transportation services Solano County Transit (SolTrans) and Fairfield –Suisun Transit (FAST), is getting behind Solano Napa Habitat for Humanity (SNHFH) this year with both financial and volunteer support. The company is supporting the building of two homes located at Habitat Corner in Fairfield and will provide more than 40 volunteers to help complete the homes in early 2013.

Habitat Corner is located at Acacia and Clay streets in Fairfield and consists of 2 single-family homes. Construction began on both homes in November. The families receiving the two newly built homes have already been qualified and selected by SNHFH, and are busy putting their own ‘sweat equity’ into the structures.

“In today’s economic environment it’s nice to see a private contractor step outside of its contracted duties and go the extra mile to support the vitality of our community,” said Mayor Harry Price. “MV is a generous partner when it comes to the needs of this community; whether they are donating transportation service to the Kiwanis Club as they do almost every year or providing funding to save the city’s Veterans Day parade as they did in November.”

As part of the company’s dedication to its employees and the communities it serves, MV partners with many organizations throughout Solano County each year. The company has more than 250 community-minded employees living and working in the county who join the company’s efforts volunteering time and/or money to organizations, including Mission Solano, Christmas Wish, Vallejo Together, Habitat for Humanity and many others.

“MV Transportation has been contracted to provide transportation throughout this County for more than a decade. During this time, the company has proven it is more than a contracted transit provider; it is an invested partner ready and willing to lend a hand in our communities,” added Solano County Supervisor John Vasquez. “Partners like this are hard to find.”

Founded in San Francisco in 1975, MV Transportation operates more than 100 contracts throughout the state of California. The company’s California support office is located in Vacaville.
