Award Recipients will Receive City Council Recognition

Vacaville, Calif., (Nov. 12, 2012) – MV Transportation, Inc., operator of the local e-tran bus service and the largest privately-owned passenger transportation contracting firm based in the United States, is pleased to announce the local winners of the company’s top safety honor, the Katherine McClary Award. The award winners will be honored at this week’s city council meeting.

The winner for the first three-quarters of the 2012 Katherine McClary award, earning recognition for having the safest record for the quarters are Daniel Taylor, Pam Orcutt, and Luther Redd respectively. All three have been outstanding operators and employees. Collectively, they have been with MV and the City of Elk Grove for nearly a decade.

“We are very proud to honor Daniel, Pam, and Luther with this prestigious safety award. The safety of our passengers is one of the most important parts of an MV operator’s job and winning this award exemplifies their commitment to excellence in this area,” stated Regional Vice President Derik Calhoun. “Our Elk Grove division has a great team of operators and MV appreciates each of them and their continued attention to our mission to provide safe and reliable transportation.”

MV Transportation’s Katherine McClary safe operator recognition program recognizes the safest operators at the company. The award was implemented by MV Transportation to honor the memory of Katie McClary, who was tragically killed in a bus accident in 2004. The award is given quarterly at each MV division nationwide and again at the end of the year based on a cumulative analysis of the four quarterly winners. Division winners compete within their regions for a regional award each quarter and the regional award winners are then submitted for the company’s highest safety award given annually to the safest operator company-wide.
