MV and LAVTA to continue shared focus on increasing ridership and improving mobility

DALLAS, Texas (May 8, 2018) – MV Transportation, Inc., a recognized leader in passenger transportation services, announced today that it has been awarded a contract to provide fixed-route transportation services by the Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA). With the new seven-year contract, MV will extend its partnership with LAVTA to more than two decades of providing fixed-route bus services for those who live or work in and visit the Tri-Valley Region of the San Francisco Bay Area, to include the cities of Dublin, Livermore, Pleasanton, and unincorporated areas of Alameda County.

MV will be responsible for all operational activities of the LAVTA Wheels bus service including safety, training, dispatch, maintenance, vehicle cleaning and washing, bus shelter maintenance, road supervision, and accounting. MV and LAVTA will also collaborate on new programs focused on retaining existing riders and increasing the attraction of new riders.

“MV’s more than 15-year commitment to the success of our system is critical as we continue our work to grow ridership and improve mobility throughout the Tri-Valley community,” said LAVTA Executive Director, Michael Tree.

“MV is proud to have been a part of LAVTA’s success and growth over the years, including the introduction of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), hybrid diesel-electric buses, traffic signal priority for buses, school service, solar lighting at bus shelters, and the relocation of the train depot to the Livermore Transit Center,” said Laura Hansen, vice president, MV Transportation. “We remain committed to continuously improving overall system efficiency and bringing new and innovative ideas to LAVTA and the passengers in the community.”

Celebrating 26 Years of Providing Service to Petaluma

For 26 years, MV Transportation has proudly partnered with the City of Petaluma to support safe and reliable transportation. Since beginning fixed-route operations in 2000, MV’s Petaluma team has played an important role in helping connect riders to work, school, medical care, and the everyday destinations that keep a community moving.
Over the years, that partnership has continued to grow. In 2014, MV expanded its service in Petaluma to include paratransit operations, further supporting access for passengers who depend on specialized transportation. More recently, the division has helped support several major service milestones, including the launch of Petaluma Transit’s fare-free pilot in July 2024. With that effort, Petaluma became the first transit system in the Bay Area to eliminate fares for all riders across both fixed-route and paratransit services.
