DALLAS (June 18, 2014) – Today, MV Transportation, Inc., announced it has been selected to operate the special education student transportation (school bus) service on behalf of Kings Schools Transportation Authority (KSTA) in California. Awarded by the KSTA Board, the contract begins on July 1, 2014 and covers a base period of three years with two additional one-year renewal options.

Under the terms of the contract, MV will manage the complete school bus operation which includes bus routing, maintenance, operator training, and compliance with all safety standards. The school bus service will be provided using a client-furnished fleet of 21 vehicles. MV will employ 33 professional operators and staff to run the operation. MV will implement a number of technologies to deliver an efficient and safe school bus operation that protects both the students and drivers, including the AngelTrax onboard camera system; the Trapeze scheduling system in combination with VersaTrans, a vehicle routing software; an electronic student check system; and MV’s Where’s My School Bus? proprietary mobile app for smartphones.

“MV is very pleased with this award and the opportunity to expand our school bus operations to California,” said Kevin Klika, President and Chief Operating Officer for MV Transportation. “While we operate numerous fixed route and paratransit services across the state, this is our first school bus operation in the region. We plan to leverage our other school bus experience, cutting-edge technology, as well as our transportation resources and facility in nearby Hanford to deliver a high quality, reliable and, most importantly, safe service for the students we will be transporting each day.”

MV currently operates more than 30 contracts in the state of California, including five within close proximity of Hanford where MV’s operation for the KSTA contact will be based.
