MV Transportation Retains Elk Grove, CA Transit Contract
DALLAS (July 9, 2014) – Today, MV Transportation, Inc., announced it has been selected to continue operation of the City of Elk Grove, California’s fixed route (e-tran), dial-a-ride (e-van) and commuter service for a new contract term. MV has operated the service since 2005 when it became the first private sector contractor selected to run Elk Grove’s transit system.
Awarded by the Elk Grove City Council, the new contract began on July 1, 2014 and will extend five base years with three (3) one-year renewal options. Under the terms of the contract, MV will be responsible for e-tran, e-van, and commuter operations, as well as vehicle maintenance. The transit services will be operated from a city-owned facility with a client-furnished fleet of 59 vehicles. MV will employ 86 professional operators and staff to run the operation.
“The Elk Grove City Council’s contract award is a tremendous honor for MV,” said Kevin Klika, President and Chief Operating Officer for MV Transportation. “Since being awarded our initial contract in 2005 as Elk Grove’s first transit service contractor from the private sector, we have been determined to deliver a consistently high performing and safe transit service on behalf of the city. As we begin a new contract term, our commitment to these important operational principles remains. And, we look forward to continuing to serve the many passengers we have come to personally know over the last decade, and intend to continue our heavy involvement in the Elk Grove community.”
MV is an active community partner supporting the Elk Grove Youth Sports Foundation, the City’s Salute to the Red, White and Blue event, and the local food bank for which MV hosts Thanksgiving food drives.
Founded in northern California in 1975, MV Transportation operates more than 100 contracts throughout the state with nearby transit operations in Sacramento, Fairfield, Roseville and Placer County. MV operates a regional support office in Vacaville.
